Set product and carton dimensions
Set the dimensions, weight, and unit of measure for a product. This is not mandatory, and you can still buy and sell products that do not have this information. However, dimensions and weight are required to use most fulfillment services.
Prerequisites
Create products. Product and carton dimensions are available for Stock and Non-inventory products.
Set product dimensions
Select Inventory from the main menu, then Products.
Open the product.
Go to the Dimensions tab.
Enter the product Length, Width, Height, and Weight.
Make sure the unit of measure is correct. These are auto-filled with the default units from your product and measurements settings, but can be changed here if necessary.
Set import dimensions
If you import stock from overseas you likely import cartons of cartons; a large outer carton, containing multiple inner cartons, each containing a number of products. Setting carton dimensions and quantities is important for:
Apportioning freight and duty based on the volume of the products rather than the value.
Configuring order quantity to make full container shipments rather than costly LCL shipments.
Meeting minimum order requirements for wholesale orders (usually the inner carton quantity).
Select Inventory from the main menu, then Products.
Open the product.
Go to the Dimensions tab.
Go to Import dimensions.
Enter the Inner carton quantity, the number of units inside one inner carton.
Enter the Outer carton quantity, the number of inner cartons inside the outer carton.
Enter the Outer carton volume dimensions. Enter the dimensions in the same units as the Item size.
