Set stock on hand

Set stock on hand

Set stock on hand quantities to start using Cin7 Core. This makes sure your inventory levels and stock value are correct before you start buying and selling products.

You should only set stock on hand once, when setting up Cin7 Core for the first time. Do not update stock balances using this method if you already have stock figures in your system, or Cin7 Core will create new product instances instead of updating existing quantities.

Change existing stock quantities with Stock adjustments or Stocktakes.

Prerequisites

Upload stock on hand quantities

  1. Select Inventory from the main menu, then Products.

  2. Click Export, then Stock on hand. This downloads a CSV file with all of the products in your inventory.

  3. Enter your stock on hand figures into the template. The following fields are required:

    • Product code: Product code is already filled in for the exported CSV file.

    • Quantity: Enter the stock on hand quantity here.

    • Average cost: Average purchase cost of the item. Cin7 Core uses this to calculate the stock value of this product.

    • Location: Where the product is stored.

    • Received date: The date the stock value enters the inventory account. If you are closing accounts from an old system one day, enter the following day here.

  4. Save your changes to the CSV file.

  5. Click Import, then Stock on hand.

  6. Upload the saved CSV file.
