Purchase budget planner

Plan your future purchase order expenses with the Purchase budget planner. This planning tool uses ForesightAI to forecast monthly purchase order costs over the next 12 months to help you meet sales demand. Manage your purchasing budget with the purchase budget planner and prepare your business for the future!

Prerequisites

  • This is a Cin7 ForesightAI planner and requires an add-on to your subscription.

  • ForesightAI requires at least 6 months of sales history in Cin7 Core.

  • US customers with Cin7 Capital can use services to help finance the forecasted sales demand.

Use the purchase budget planner

The Purchase budget planner is available with the ForesightAI subscription. You can review your forecasted purchase order costs for the next 12 months and adjust your purchasing budget as needed. Products without a supplier are not included in the Purchase budget planner.

  1. Select Financials and then Purchase budget planner.

  2. The planner provides a monthly breakdown of your Forecasted PO costs. ForesightAI will forecast sales and then calculate the purchase order cost to meet this sales demand for the next 12 months.

    • By default, you will see your Forecasted PO costs broken down by Product segments (Winners, Chasers, and Losers). Alternatively, you can change the dropdown to Suppliers to view these costs per supplier. If a Supplier has no Forecasted PO costs, they will not appear in the planner.

  3. Add your monthly purchasing budget to Available funds.

Add Available Funds to each month below the graph.

  4. The Purchase budget planner will then calculate the:

    • Balance of funds
Calculates the amount of money leftover if you purchase the proposed purchase orders (Available funds - Forecasted PO costs).

    • Lost revenue
Forecasts the amount of sales revenue lost if you can't buy all of the proposed purchase orders (Forecasted PO costs). This will only show if your Balance of funds is negative.

    • Lost margin
Forecasts the amount of margin lost if you can't buy all of the proposed purchase orders (Forecasted PO costs). This will only show if your Balance of funds is negative.
At the bottom of the table there are the Balance of funds, Lost revenue, and Lost margin fields.

  5. Review the graph columns to see if a month has Surplus funds or Deficit funds.

You can also select Export to create a .csv file with all of the Purchase Budget Planner information. Depending on your selection, the export will either include the Forecasted PO costs split by Product Segments or Suppliers.
