Sign in with a passkey

Sign in with a passkey

A passkey lets you sign in to Cin7 Core with your fingerprint, face, or PIN instead of a password and two-factor authentication (2FA). Your device or password manager stores your passkeys, and your browser verifies them. We recommend using passkeys with Cin7 Core, as they reduce the risk of phishing.

Cin7 Core supports passkeys in these browsers:

  • Google Chrome

  • Microsoft Edge

  • Apple Safari

  • Mozilla Firefox

Make sure that you are using the most recent version of these browsers as old versions may not support passkeys.

Add a passkey

You need to sign in to Cin7 Core before you can add a passkey.

  1. From the user menu, open My profile.

  2. Click Add a passkey.

  3. Your browser or device prompts you to save the passkey and verify with your fingerprint, face, or PIN. You may need to scan a QR code to set up your passkey. The next steps depends on your device or password manager.

Here are some of the common passkey providers and their help guides:

    • Microsoft Passkey (Windows Hello): uses your fingerprint, face, or PIN. Stored on your Windows device.

    • iPhone: uses Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode. Syncs across your Apple devices via iCloud Keychain.

    • Android phone: uses your fingerprint, face, or PIN. Syncs via Google Password Manager.

    • Mac: uses Touch ID or a QR code scanned with your iPhone. Syncs across your Apple devices via iCloud Keychain.

  4. Enter a name for the passkey and click Save.

Sign in with your passkey

You can use your passkey to sign in to Cin7 Core. Select Sign in with a passkey.

If you have passkeys on another device, your browser may offer to scan a QR code so you can verify from that device instead.

If no passkey is available for your account or device, you can still sign in with your password or SSO.

Remove a passkey

In your User profile, you can view all active passkeys. You can see the passkey name, the date you added it, and when you last used it. Select Remove to delete an outdated passkey.

After you remove a passkey, you can't use it to sign in. If it was your only passkey, sign in with your password and 2FA code, or use SSO.
