Xero tracking categories

Xero tracking categories

Use Xero tracking categories to see how different areas of your business are performing. For example, see how sales reps, locations, jobs, and other categories are performing compared to others of the same type.

Xero allows up to two active tracking categories at a time, which you can map to available Cin7 Core fields. Each time you sync, Xero tracking categories are populated with mapped values from Cin7 Core.

Prerequisites

Available fields

Cin7 Core supports mapping the following values to Xero tracking categories:

  • Sales rep

  • Location

  • Job

  • Category

  • Brand

  • Product family

  • Product attributes*

  • Customer attributes*

  • Supplier attributes*

*Up to 10 additional attributes can be specified for products, customers and suppliers.

Product values (Category, brand, product family, and product attributes) are not shown in COGS journals in Xero when mapped to tracking categories. This is due to a Xero manual journal limitation.

Set up tracking categories in Xero

You need to set up tracking categories in Xero before you can map values in Cin7 Core. Only two active categories can exist at any one time and you cannot add a new tracking category until an existing one has been archived or deleted.

Values from mapped Cin7 Core fields are passed to Xero even if they are not one of the Xero category options.
