Support for duplicate customer names
People can have the same name in the world so I find it baffling that you cannot have customers with duplicate names in Core. The result of the current system is customers John Smith, John Smith1, John Smith. etc. needing to be created in the system.
This could be simply resolved by adding an ID field which must remain unique while the name field can be duplicated if required.

I think this WAS a limitation with Xero, but has since been fixed.
Just retested and it's still an issue - in both Core and POS customers cannot be created if there is an existing customer with the same name.
I meant Xero have addressed it on their end and use a contactID rather than Contact Name as the unique identifier. I can't post the link to an external site. I tried on another post Cin7 Core API - Support for duplicate customer names and it's still pending approval months later.
Agree - a name is not a unique identifier which is always needed in any database - either unique ID field or even email address. We have subsequent major issues with this where the integration with Shopify merges customers with the same name and just adds a further email address. If this is not noticed when sending an email both customers are sent the email - we have explained this is a data protection breach but no urgency seems to be considered for the error.
