Xero tracking category for COGS Answered

haydenjwinters

When journals are posted for COGS, the COGS account is pulled from the product setting. We also have tracking categories setup as additional attributes in the product.

When sales are posted to Xero, the tracking category is included. However, when the COGS are, no tracking category is included.

As the COGS chart of account is pulled, it makes logical sense that the products additional attribute could be pulled in also .

Where multiple items are sold with different COGS accounts are posted, there are separate lines - so it should be possible to include this.

    Hi,
    Thank you for reaching out.

Currently the product level attributes or tracking categories related to product like brand, category are not supported for COGS transactions as they are posted as a single line item using Xero's manual journal entries.
Tracking categories that are added at the header level of the Sales Order like Sale rep, location, customer attributes are supported for COGS transactions.

If you have any more questions or need help with other aspects of the platform, then please reach out to our team. Thanks.

  • Hi Sayali,

Thanks for confirming that Core does not include tracking categories for COGS manual journal entries.  i think haydenjwinters post to add this as a feature request - that is, Feature Request: Add tracking categories for COGS manual journal entries in Xero.

    Thanks,

    Stan
