Basic reordering

Lloyd Shanks

Cin7 Core currently has a Minimum Before Reorder and a Reorder Quantity at a product level or at a Location level through the Product > Reorder levels screen.

If for example I have a Minimum Before Reorder of 500 and a Reorder Quantity of 100, and if I had 501 in Inventory and sold 2 (now I have 499) it would propose I should buy 100. This is ok. I would still have a good stock position.

If however if I was to sell 250 in a single day (an unexpected larger order - now I have 251) then the system would only propose to reorder 100 which would bring me up to 351. If I run this report again it would propose another 100 bringing me up to 451, if I ran it a third time it would propose another 100 bringing my on hand and on order total to 551.

This is inefficient. The system should proposed ordering 300 on the first run, taking me up and above over my Minimum Before Reorder in multiples of my Reorder Quantity.

I don't want to move to using the Smart Reordering as this larger order (250) was unexpected and I don't usually get an order this large so using a periodic average, especially over a shorter period, will cause me to be overstocked.

Keen to hear peoples thoughts on this.
