Transferring stock that is allocated
I would like the ability to transfer stock that has been allocated. I've got a few scenarios below that currently make stock integrity and traceability really difficult.
Current - what CORE is capable of now:
> Order comes in, product 001 is auto allocated, picked & packed in location A on core
> Product 001 is physically picked & packed in Location A
> Order is shipped, last known location is A
All scenarios that core is NOT capable of:
Scenario 1
> Order comes in, product 001 is auto allocated, picked & packed in location A on core
> Product 001 is physically picked in Location A, but moved to Location B for packing.
Problem: This leaves core showing as picked and packed in location A but physically the stock is now in location B ready to be collected by courier.
Scenario 2
> Order comes in, product 001 is auto allocated, picked & packed in location A on core
> Product 001 is physically picked in Location A, but moved to Location B for packing.
> Product 001 is now picked & packed in Location B, but the stock is then moved to location C, awaiting courier collection.
Problem: This leaves core showing as picked and packed in location A but physically the stock has moved to two additional locations, B & C without any traceability.
Scenario 3
> Order comes in, product 001 is auto allocated, picked & packed in location A on core
> Someone is making space in warehouse A and physically moved product 001 from location A to location B but they can't update core to location B as the product is already allocated.
> Someone goes to look for product in 001 in location A and it's not found.
Problem: Stock can be physically moved but not moved systemically causing pickers to not find products.
Scenario 4
> Order comes in, product 001 is auto allocated, picked & packed in location A on core
> Product 001 is physically picked & packed in Location B, but still shows as location A on core
> Order is cancelled before it's shipped
Problem: Stock is un-picked/packed on core and it's 'put back'/'doesn't leave' location A systemically, but physically the stock is now in Location B. This requires the pick/pack team to remember if they have already picked that order and to move it back to the original location it last was on core. Or, they have to find a picked/packed order in a location that doesn't reflect core.
Overall problem: At the point of allocation, we lose all traceability of stock. I think we should be able to move stock once it's picked and packed, as stock moves around even after it's picked/packed into different staging areas.
