Product Availability - Bin Allocation
Cin7 Core currently allows adjustments to on-hand stock quantities under the Availability tab. This functionality is effective for one-off changes. However, there’s a notable gap when it comes to handling scenarios where both the stock quantity and the bin location need updating concurrently.
Current Functionality
- On-Hand Stock Adjustments: Users can efficiently adjust stock quantities via the Availability tab.
- Separate Process for Bin Location: Changing a bin location requires navigating to a different screen and performing a separate stock adjustment.
Identified Issue
During a stocktake, discrepancies can occur where:
- The counted quantity is incorrect, and
- The recorded bin location is also wrong.
While correcting the quantity is straightforward in the Availability tab, updating the bin location separately is inefficient. This separation increases the risk of human error and can lead to inconsistencies in stock data.
Proposed Enhancement
Develop a unified adjustment interface within Cin7 Core that allows users to:
- Simultaneously Update: Both the stock quantity and its associated bin location within the same warehouse in one screen.
- Streamlined Process: Reduce the need to navigate between multiple screens, thereby minimising errors and saving time.
Benefits
- Improved Efficiency: A single-screen solution will speed up the adjustment process, particularly in high-volume or high-error scenarios like stocktakes.
- Enhanced Accuracy: Consolidating both adjustments helps ensure that all related changes are made together, reducing data discrepancies.
- User-Friendly Experience: Simplifies the workflow for users, lowering the training burden and minimizing the potential for mistakes.
Example Use-Case
Consider a scenario during a stocktake where a miscount is identified:
- Current Process: The user adjusts the quantity in the Availability tab and then switches to a different screen to update the bin location.
- Proposed Process: The user makes both adjustments on a single screen, ensuring that the new quantity and correct bin location are recorded simultaneously.
Conclusion
Integrating a unified adjustment feature that covers both quantity and bin location updates would significantly enhance Cin7 Core's usability and accuracy. This enhancement addresses a real-world need, making the system more robust and user-friendly for handling stock discrepancies.
