Feature Request: Improved Linking Purchase Orders to Sale Orders
There is a feature request on the old forum for this. See “Linking Sales orders to Purchase Orders”. The feature request wasn't fully implemented.
Currently, you can create a purchase order from a backordered sale order. This creates a purchase order with a link to the original sale order.
This logic falls over if you have multiple orders for multiple items from multiple suppliers. It is not intuitive to create a purchase order for each backordered item on each sale order (and then presumably merge them all).
The "Backordered items received to stock" notification seems to rely on this linking rather than actually performing a lookup.
Suggested improvements:
- Be able to link purchase order lines to existing orders (Cin7 Omni does this).
- Receive notification/alert on the product receipt

Yes I would like to see this feature built into core.
We are having to track backorders and related POs externally via the API. Native functionality would be much better!
