Feature Request: API Product Updated event/webhook

Matthew Boogaard

I'd like to request a “product updated” event/webhook for the API.

This has been requested before in the old forum.

Example: a product price is updated in Cin7 Core and an ecommerce site or other external system can be instantly updated with the new price.

This could work if you only use static prices entered directly into the price tier. But if you use markup prices, then there are a number of possible reasons for a price to change and you would need to decide which of these would be valid triggers for the webhook event:

    1) If your markup is based on supplier fixed price, then a change in fixed price will change your price tier value.

    2) If your markup is based on supplier fixed price and you have more than one supplier, then if a different supplier becomes the most recently updated then that fixed price becomes the one that is used for the price calculation and your price tier value could change.

    3) If your markup is based on supplier fixed price and your supplier uses a different currency than your base currency, then you have continual price fluctuations based on exchange rate moment.

    4) If your markup is based on average cost, then and stock movements at a new price will affect the your price tier value.

Price is just one of several attributes which you might want to get notifications on upon updating.

Of course there's a number of ways you can calculate the price. The point is that this price can be automatically updated in an external system which is not possible now.
