Feature Request - Order Status values of Picking and Packing
Hi Guys,
When we are in Sales > Fulfillment, I have noticed (for years) that when we are completing either the Pick or the Pack through the WMS, we never see the Sale Order status of “Picking” and “Packing” on the web platform.
All we “generally” see is;
- Ordered → Picked → Packed → Completed
But what we would prefer to see is;
- Ordered → Picking → Picked → Packing → Packed → Completed
I've checked the FAQ which shows all the status so they exist, but the WMS does not seem to trigger the ‘picking’ and ‘packing’ status's?
At the moment our workflow is;
- Schedule the orders
- Warehouse staff member opens up Pick on the WMS, pick a SO, scan a tote, start.
- From this point, we would think that the SO status in Cin7 would be “Picking”, but it stays as “Ordered”
The Problem
- The reason we'd like to see “Picking” is because it lets our customer service team, know that the job has started and from this point on, there is no changes / cancellations and the job must proceed through.
- At the moment, as a workaround, the only way customer service knows that a job has started, is by looking at the "Picker” coloum to see a team members name (as we generally don't set a picker manually), but its not really ideal using this method.
Likewise
- Once the pick has been completed, the status is “Picked”, there is no issues here.
- From there, on the WMS > Pack, we select the SO and press Start
- Again, we note that the status does not change to “Packing”
- The status stays on “Picked”.
- Only once the Pack has been completed, does the status change to “Packed”.
- We never see “Packing”
Anyway, I think this is something that could possible be improved when using the WMS, as it allows for greater clarity at which specific stage a Sale Order is at.

The issue here is that the ‘Picking’ adn ‘Packing’ status require a draft pick or pack to be saved to the system. But when you are (literally) picking or packing using the WMS, it doesn't save until the end.
I agree that it would be good to see the WMS and desktop update line by line as each line is picked or packed.
