CHECKING FOR DUPLICATE BARCODES
A notification is needed when adding a barcode that already exists - either by updating the product or importing a .csv file.

We also do this manually.
Agreed that a warning should appear.
absolutely! product barcodes should be a unique identifier. Duplicates should not be allowed.
We now have a manual check process in place to stop this from occuring. Unfortunately some duplicates were created before we realised.
