Cross location return functionality - Core POS
The ability to complete cross-location returns, where a customer returns a product purchased in one outlet to a different outlet, is a normal part of a modern retail experience.
Under the current system configuration you are able to complete cross-location returns in POS, however, the system does not process the return correctly - when the return is completed the item is returned to the original sale location rather than being either returned straight to the new location or automatically transferred to the actual return location - this creates inaccuracies in stock.
Under the current setup staff members must remember to manually complete a transfer from the original sale location after processing the return which is impractical and prone to error.
There must be a way to facilitate this because if an exchange rather than a return is completed at the new location the new products are picked from the new location but the return is still processed back to the original location.
It would seem like the simplest fix would just be to create an automated transfer in cases where the system recognises that a new outlet/register has processed a return.
Despite multiple clarifications support have said that the only way to practically resolve this is by editing the return transaction in Core which completely misses the point that these transactions are being done via POS by staff members with no access to Core.
