Quickbooks renaming products in Cin7
Ticket #273934
The Quickbooks integration is renaming our individual products from the name we gave them to [Family Name] (Option 1, Option 2, Option 3)
This is making a mess of our individual product names in Cin7, which are carefully structured for clarity for internal use in the warehouse and on our picking and packing slips. On the other hand, our family names and option values are worded to be used on Shopify.
Cin7 is our master of data. Why is the QB integration able to overwrite our product names? This is crazy.

@Drift Boss Renaming products can be tricky with the Cin7–QuickBooks integration. Product names need to stay unique, and QuickBooks uses the name as part of the mapping, so renaming can break the link or create duplicates.
Best practice is to rename in Cin7 Core first, then resync. If things get messy, you may need to use the “Replace Products” function or re-export the catalog to rebuild the mapping cleanly.
But QB is renaming products to a name they never had before. It is not simply reverting names, it is CONSTRUCTING names for our products and throwing away our carefully constructed product titles, with specific product details in them.
No application that integrates with Cin7 should be using the name as the identifier. Cin7 has a unique product ID for each product.
Imagine your accountant walked through your store and relabelled all your merchandise…. that is not his job!
