Production based inventory velocity report

james.ackerly

Current behaviour:
The Inventory Velocity Report calculates reorder dates and suggested quantities based on sales velocity. This works well for finished goods sold through sales orders, but provides no value for raw materials and components that are consumed through production/assembly rather than sold.

Requested enhancement:
Extend the velocity calculation to include production consumption as a demand signal. Raw materials and components should have their velocity derived from quantities consumed in completed production orders and assemblies, not sales transactions.

Desired functionality:
∙    Calculate consumption rate (units used per day/week) based on historical production data over a configurable period
∙    Use this rate alongside supplier lead times and safety stock to suggest reorder points and quantities for raw materials
∙    Support the same filtering and scheduling options as the existing Inventory Velocity Report
Business case:
Manufacturers using Cin7 Core’s production module currently have no native way to automate reorder planning for raw materials based on actual usage. The data exists within production orders but requires manual export and offline analysis to derive consumption rates. This gap means reorder parameters on component SKUs are set manually and can drift from actual demand, leading to stockouts or overstocking.
