Feature Request - WMS Setting - Toggle button to disable selecting items on the Pick List by touch

Hi Team,

This issue effects mainly FIFO-Batch products (because the product barcode is not scanned on the secondary screen)

Currently

  • WMS → Pick
  • Example → A Sale Order could have 10x different products to pick.
  • A user → Can simply touch any one of those 10 items to select it, which opens up the secondary window to scan the batch
  • By scanning the batch, it is counting the units picked.
  • There was no validation / scanning of the actual Product Barcode or SKU to ensure that what was physically picked is correct

Why it matters

For ourselves, all products on a single Purchase Order, all have the same batch number. This could be 100's of SKUs. There can be a time when…..

  • The user physically touches 1 of the items on the WMS > Pick list, to select the product, and then they scan the batch number on the secondary window.
  • However, there is a chance that the WMS user, physically has the wrong item in their hand (let's just pretend there was a wrong item in the bin location)
  • It just so happens that no error is shown when they scanned the batch number, because it shares the same batch number as the wrong item in their hand (as the wrong item was on the same PO)
  • This results in picking the wrong item.
  • The issue can be found at the Pack Task → But again it relies on not touching the item and ensuring it is scanned, however there's no setting to ensure this occurs.

Suggested Fix

Therefore, I think it would be good if there was a toggle button option, in the WMS settings, to disable selecting of products on the WMS pick List, by touch. This would enforce and ensure that…

  • A. The WMS user is forced to scan the product barcode / SKU, which validates that the correct item was collected.
  • B. If the barcode has an issue, that the user can still manually enter in the Barcode Number or SKU via the on screen keyboard.
  • C. The WMS user should still be able to view/scroll through the list

This basically ensures a higher pick accuracy and less chance of the wrong items being picked.
