Customer Contacts to have contact type - specifically for email addresses

Emma Shuffleton

A lot of our customers require emails to be sent to specific email addresses depending on the type of communication.

This is particularly important for statements, as these often contain private information about what the company owes. We need statements to go only to the nominated Accounts/Statements email address, so other contacts within the customer don’t receive this information.

At the same time, the Accounts/Statements contact doesn’t necessarily want to receive shipment notifications every time something is dispatched — those should go to the customer’s general sales or warehouse contact.

We’ve also found that when we set a default contact, that contact is then automatically pulled through onto the invoice, which isn’t always the correct person.

Ideally, it would be good for Cin7 to implement Customer type drop downs against each contact listed, for example:

  • Invoices
  • Accounts/Statements
  • General

Then, depending on the document or notification being generated, the correct contact/email address would automatically be selected, rather than everything defaulting to the one default contact, and those selected as “include in emails”

I agree that assigning contact types such as Invoices, Accounts/Statements, and General would make Cin7 much more reliable for sending sensitive financial documents to the right recipients; the Cin7 Core Customer Management guide explains the current customer contact and default-contact setup.
