Shopify Payments – map payments to specific bank accounts by currency
We use Shopify internationally and receive/settle Shopify Payments in multiple currencies. We maintain separate Wise bank accounts for each currency, which are also represented as separate bank accounts in Xero.
For example:
- GBP Shopify payments → Wise GBP bank account
- EUR Shopify payments → Wise EUR bank account
- USD Shopify payments → Wise USD bank account
Currently, Cin7 Core’s Shopify integration does not allow us to map Shopify payments to different bank accounts according to the relevant currency.
We would like the Shopify integration to support currency-specific payment account mapping, so that Cin7 automatically allocates payments to the appropriate Wise bank account based on the Shopify settlement/payout currency.
Ideally, within the Shopify integration settings we could configure:
GBP → Wise GBP
EUR → Wise EUR
USD → Wise USD
and add further currencies/accounts where required.
This is important because Shopify Payments settles different currencies into the corresponding Wise currency bank accounts. Without currency-specific mapping, the payment information flowing from Shopify through Cin7 to Xero does not accurately reflect the actual bank account receiving the funds, creating unnecessary manual reconciliation.
The mapping should be based on the Shopify settlement/payout currency, rather than simply the customer’s checkout currency.
I have discussed this limitation with Mark Dessanayaka, who has also raised it with the Cin7 Product team and recommended that I submit this feature request.
