Permission Limitations For Credit Limits and Terms

brodie.karel

We require sales representatives to create new customers, however even though there is now a permission to restrict editing credit limits, a sales rep can create a new customer and easily set their credit limit to whatever they choose, including 0 (Zero ie unlimited). Furthermore, because they have access to create new customers and there is no restriction on payment terms, a sales rep can adjust their payment terms at creation as well as after; which should also be possible to restrict from editing. Therefore I request that the following be possible:

  • A configurable default credit limit
  • The credit limit field locked for users creating customers (if they don't have edit access, then they shouldn't be able to set a limit at creation too)
  • CIA set as the default (or whatever terms a company chooses) and the payment terms field locked for those users
  • Higher-permission users able to amend these values when required

Therefore, it should be possible for a user to create a new customer, but the credit limit and the terms fields are greyed out and display the defaults (ie CIA and 0.01).

Beyond these issues, the credit limit of 0 = unlimited should be altered to either make it very clear that zero is unlimited (ie. a tooltip or warning shows when setting a customer to zero), or there be an actual ‘unlimited’  tick box to indicate this status and ticking it greys out the credit limit field. It would be ideal if zero truely meant a zero credit limit!
