Configure B2B portal navigation bars

Add navigation bars to your portal to help your customers find your products. Display categories, brands, and/or tags on a vertical sidebar menu, and use custom menus and submenus on a horizontal bar on the top of the screen. These are configured from the Navigation tab of your B2B portal settings.

You may also be interested in customizing your portal appearance (colors, footer content) or adding page elements (carousel, banners, etc.) to your portal.

Prerequisites

Vertical navigation - sidebar

Vertical navigation bars are displayed to the left of the product catalog. Brands, Categories, and Tags can be displayed here. Vertical menus allow all of these to be displayed under different sections of the same sidebar.

Set up a sidebar:

  1. Under the Navigation tab, scroll to the Vertical Widget Area. There are three sections, one each for brands, categories, and tags. Each section can be enabled to display it in the sidebar, or disabled to completely remove it from view.

  2. Click + Add more items to add brands, categories, or tags to each section. Items can be removed using the X next to an entry, or dragged and dropped into a different order.

  3. Save your changes when you are finished.

NOTE: Switching between vertical navigation sections does not delete options. Use X next to an entry to delete an option.

Horizontal navigation bar

The horizontal navigation bar is displayed at the top of the B2B portal. This can display a selection of categories, brands, or tags, with no sub-items, or a custom menu which can contain multiple items and types of item, including sub-menus.

Add a horizontal menu:

  1. Under the Navigation tab, scroll to the Horizontal navigation bar. By default, this will be disabled and you will need to enable it to make it visible to customers.

  2. (Option 1) Create a simple menu with no sub-items by selecting Categories, Brands, or Tags in the dropdown menu, then click + Add Menu Items to add items of that type. Only one of categories, brands, or tags can be selected for a simple menu. Switching between horizontal navigation sections will delete all items in that section.

  3. (Option 2) Select Custom menu. This allows you to add multiple types of item to the menu including sub-menus. Click Add Menu Items to start adding items to the menu. There are four types of menu items that can be added to a custom menu; Menu Item, List of Products, Grouped Menu, and Link.

    1. Menu items:Adds submenu items to the menu item. Two levels of submenu items can be added. Add more submenu items by clicking Add submenu item to [Menu item] and entering a title. Items of other types (described below) can be added as submenu items.

    2. List of Products:Allows products from the catalog that meet the set criteria to be displayed in the custom menu. Selecting this menu item will redirect the customer to the configured list of products. Click Add Products, then on the Add Products menu, select the parameter(s) that will be used to filter the products that will appear. You may select one or more parameters from your categories, product families, brands, product tags or individual products. Click OK to finish.

    3. Grouped menu:Grouped Menu items may contain several lists of products as well as links. It can also be used to group items based on a title or name, e.g. Shop by Brands can be used as a title for a menu item showing a list of products grouped by brand. Enter a group number and name for the grouped menu, then select a type, which can be another list of products, a title (non-clickable item that will be shown above the menu) or a link. The group number indicates where on the portal the grouped menu will appear in order from left to right. When selecting grouped menu, the setting allowing you to enter the max number of items per column will be displayed here. When the maximum number is exceeded, the columns will attempt to split into equal columns, or as close to equal as the total number allows.

  4. Menu items can be dragged and dropped into position.

  5. Change text alignment (left, centre, right) of top-level items using the text alignment buttons. Check that all menu items and submenu items look correct using the preview feature.

  6. Save your changes to complete configuring portal navigation.
