Receive and put away stock with WMS
Receive stock into your warehouse, compare received items against purchase orders, and put away loose stock to bins.
In Cin7 Core you have the option to receive stock and put items away in bins as one step, or as two using Put away. When put away is active in your settings, you will first receive all stock for an order at the working area location, then in a second step put away all loose stock into bins. When put away is not active, you will receive and place each item of an order as one step.
This setting can be changed in Cin7 Core to accurately model your warehouse process.
Prerequisites
Configure WMS settings
Enable or disable put away (General Settings → Purchase process customization)
Connect a barcode scanner or enable camera scanning (recommended)
- Authorize purchase order
- If you have purchases set to Invoice first instead of Stock first, the invoice must be authorized before the purchase order can be received.
Receive stock with a purchase order
Use this option to receive stock where a purchase order was raised with the supplier. WMS will check the quantities and SKUs of the received items against the PO. If your organization uses put away, all stock is received from one or more orders without being placed in bins, then all received items are put away as one action. If not using put away, you will receive all items in an order first then put the items for that order away, then move on to the next order.
Click Main menu → Receive → With PO to display PO search.
Search the list for the required PO number. Alternatively, leave the field blank and click search to view all purchase orders with stock to receive.
This shows the selected purchase order and its products.
Tap the product you wish to receive, scan the item, or enter the Item #. If not using put away, enter the bin number to place the item.
Tap Receive allto receive all units of this item. If you are still waiting for items to fully receive the purchase order quantity, or you want to place the item elsewhere, tap Receive partially to go back to the previous screen.
Save your progress. If there is still stock to receive, you can return to it later. Any received stock that is not placed in a bin will then be available for Put away.
Receive stock without a purchase order
Stock with no associated purchase order must be received into the warehouse with the Receive without PO option.
Click Main menu → Receive → Without PO to select a supplier.
Choose a Supplier and tap Load product data. Once a supplier has been selected, this will be saved in local storage as default for future receiving inventory without a PO actions. You can return to the select supplier screen to edit the default supplier if required.
Scan or enter the item number for the product you want to receive and press Enter on your keypad or the search icon. Enter the Item #, if not using put away you can also enter the bin number to place the item directly in its final location.
You can receive items individually by repeatedly entering the Item # and tapping Enter. You can also receive multiple items by tapping Qty to adjust the total quantity if permitted by your WMS settings.
When you have finished receiving the item, click Finish.
On the pick screen, click Save to finish receiving this item. Any loose items not placed in bins will be available for Put away.
Put away
Put away shows all stock in a location which has not been put away in a bin. Completing put away will remove the purchase order from this list as well as the receive list.
Go to Main menu → Put away.
You will see a list of all stock received which has not yet been put away in a bin. Tap a product, enter the Item # or Scan UPC code of the product to be put away, then tap Enter on your keypad (not Next). You can also search by Batch # or Serial #, if applicable.
Enter the name of the Bin where the items will be placed.
Enter the Item # or Scan UPC code, you may have to press Enter on your device.
If you want to instantly place all remaining items in a new location, tap Place all. Otherwise, continue scanning items, entering the item number, or edit the quantity of items to be put away by clicking Qty, if permitted by your WMS settings.
If for some reason you can't or don't want to put away the entire quantity of items picked straight away, you can continue by tapping Place partially. This will return you to the Put away screen.
Tap Finish to stop putting items away, then click Yes on the confirmation message to return to the main menu.
Additional units of measure (AUOM) and receiving stock
When you scan a barcode during stock receiving, WMS will check if the scanned item is linked to the purchase order item via an additional unit of measure (AUOM). WMS identifies the connection and receives the item. The received and remaining quantity for the item is converted to the unit of measure of the scanned item. (e.g. the purchase order is for 1 case of 4 cans, WMS user scans 1 can, the remaining quantity to receive will display 3 cans.)
When putting away items that have additional units of measure, you can select the unit of measure. By default, this is the unit of measure of the scanned item.
