Factory Calendar

Factory Calendar

The Factory Calendar defines your working schedule so you can accurately plan resource capacity and schedule orders. Here you can define:

  • Working days of the week and weekends

  • Default operational hours

  • Holidays and days off

  • Custom working hours

You can define different working schedules, including working on holidays and weekends, for each resource and shopfloor.

You must set up your Factory Calendar before using other Advanced Manufacturing features.

Prerequisites

  • Advanced Manufacturing must be included in or added on to your subscription.

  • You will need the Advanced Manufacturing: Capacity Planner permission to use work centers.

Set default operational hours and working days

The first step is to set default operational hours. These will apply to all shopfloor locations and resources. You can define different working schedules, including working on holidays and weekends, for each resource.

  1. Select Production from the main menu and go to the Setup section.

  2. Select Set up calendar.

  3. Click Calendar settings to open a pop-up window.

  4. From the drop-down list, select the day of the week on which the workweek starts.

  5. Open the Select weekend days drop-down list. Click on a day of the week to mark it as a weekend (weekend days are displayed in grey).

    • Any days of the week, and any number of days, can be selected as weekend days. Weekend days are marked as unavailable for production; for example, if a production order takes 3 days, and we begin on Friday, Cin7 Core will estimate the order will be finished on Tuesday, not Sunday.

  6. Set a start time and end time for each day of the week by clicking on the field for that day. You can click the Copy icon at the end of a row to apply the hours from that row to all the other days.

  7. Optionally, set a break for working days.

    • Break times by default pause production for all resources, in the same way as weekends. A production scheduled to take 4 hours, but that’s interrupted by a one hour break, would be displayed in the production schedule as taking 5 hours.

    • Factory Calendar allows for one break per day.

    • You may prefer to have no break by default, and set breaks for resources (machines, labor, etc.) instead.

  8. Click Apply changes to close the pop-up window.

  9. Save your changes.

Set holidays and days off

You can configure holidays and days off when your locations will not be operating.

  1. Click days in the calendar to add holiday entries. You can also add holidays by clicking + Add in the Holidays section and entering a date.

  2. Enter an optional holiday description.

  3. Delete a holiday by clicking X Delete next to an entry. Edit holiday dates and descriptions by clicking on each field.

  4. Save changes to finish.

Set custom working hours

Set custom working hours for some days of the year.

  1. Click the + Add button next to Custom working hours to add a date and set its custom operational hours.

  2. Delete a custom day by clicking X Delete. Edit dates and descriptions by clicking on each field.

  3. Save changes to finish.

Editing the Factory Calendar

Editing the start of the working week, weekend days, and holidays will cause changes in the Scheduler and Capacity Planner. Changes are applied only for orders created after editing the work week, weekend, or days off.

Scheduler changes:

  • Operations are rescheduled taking into account the new working hours, including taking into account if linked resources do not have the same working hours.

  • Orders that have already been released are displayed on the Scheduler as they were, but you will see a notification if resources are now overallocated.

Capacity Planner changes:

  • Capacity is recalculated according to the new calendar settings.

  • Replenishment planning takes into account the new change to plan the expected timelines for component delivery.
