Shopify Exchanges - STOCK WILL BE INCORRECT Planned

jo

Since Shopify changed their exchange process a few years ago any exchanges done in Shopify are done against the original sale. Previously Shopify created a new order which was 'paid for' by an exchange credit generated from the original order.

As such, exchanges done in Shopify (including Shopify POS) don't sync correctly with Cin7. Any returned items are credited and re-stocked accordingly in Cin7. However there is no record whatsoever in Cin7 of any new items that are taken in the exchange. This obviously has a massive impact on stock.  A new sale has to be created manually in Cin7 and the credit from the original sale is used as payment.  If a further payment was needed then this will be allocated on the original sale and will need transferring to new sale and removing from original.  If a refund has been made on the exchange then this also needs manual intervention.  All in all, lots more manual work which should all really be part on the Shopify / Cin7 integration

    Hi Jo,

Thank you for providing your detailed insights.  This year we focused on improving various areas of our Shopify integration.

I am currently gathering the requirements for handling the Shopify Exchanges functionality within Cin7 Core correctly.  I would love to connect with you to get more insights into your current Shopify Exchanges workflow and understand your points in more detail.

    Many thanks,
    Maylene

I would be happy to be involved in this as well if you need additional feedback, as this is one of our retail team's biggest frustrations when processing exchanges.

Beyond Expectations has created an integration for this to help our clients who need this function now. Cin7 has this on their roadmap for Quarter 3 of this year.

    How does this work?

It looks for recent Shopify orders that have exchanges on them and checks the same order in Core to determine if the exchange has been taken care of (they're not) and creates a new order with relevant line items, fulfilment and payment (if required).
