Feature Request - Products Stock Level Report - Please add "Batch" as a selectable data header

Chris

Hi Guys,

Here's the issue. Example, we have stock of "Cool Mug", in various quantities and batches below;

  • Batch AAA
  • Batch FFF
  • Batch ZZZ

The Product Stock Level Report consolidates “Cool Mug” into a single line across all batches and provides the total units. It works fine, BUT…. because there is no “Batch” header option, we're unable to filter the totals by Batch.

Why would we want to know the totals per batch?

  • Lets say Batch AAA has an issue
  • We need to know the total units in this batch, and then claim the cost of these units with our manufacturing plant.
  • We'd also then create a writeoff etc in Cin7
  • Having the Batch header option, would also just helps us with planning and knowing what older batches are in stock that we need to shift

Why the available report is not a suitable option

  • When stock of the same product and same batch, is split over various bin locations, the availability report DOES NOT consolidate a single SKU onto a single line, even if you use the drop down filter option and turn off batch/bin location etc. I won't go through this issue again, but I clearly explained the issue in a different feature request here
  • In its current form, if you try to use the availabilty report, you end up using a calculator to calculate the totals and its not really possible to filter it by batch, so overall its not the correct report to use anyway.

    Hi Chris,

I don't think the Products Stock Level report is customizable. Team Cin7 can correct me on this one.

However, I think the product availability module/report will be useful for you as it not only gives you the option to show the batch number, but also makes the product is searchable by the batch number.

Make sure the dropdown on the top right is set to Show batch/serial no.

    Hi Ron,

    • The Product Stock Level Report simply requires the Batch header to be made available in the report.
    • There are no real technical reasons why it is not possible to add it in. It makes complete sense to have it in this report.
    • In the Product Stock Level Report, you are able to select as many SKUs/products as needed. For example, say you had three mugs (so three SKU) being S/M/L all with batch AAA. You may (for example) later realise they are all defective/people are having issues with the product regardless of the size (say the handles fall off after 1 week of use). That is why you need to use this report, because you'd select those three SKUs, and then filter them by the Batch AAA (because you might also have these three SKUs in Batch BBB which are fine/not effected), then you know the total units for batch AAA. You simply cannot do this in the Product Availability Report because you're only searching by one SKU at a time (along with my reasons below)

Regarding your suggestion to use the Product Availability Report, as I've mentioned in the first post…

    1. It DOES NOT sum the totals onto a single line, when using batches and Bin Locations
    2. If you use Bin Locations, you will know the drop down for Consolidate Batch does not work. That drop down only works when you are not using Bin Locations (and from memory that drop down option consolidates all various batches together, not consolidating per batch)

(and yes if you hide bin locations column, it still does not sum onto a single line)…. so get the calculator out to sum up the quantities?

That's why my feature request for the Availability Report, I explained the issue very clearly and stated that it should have three drop down options

    • Show batch/serial → No change required
    • Consolidate Batch → Merge same batches together (ignores bin locations)
    • Consolidate Stock → Merge all stock together (ignores bin locations and batches)

*Noting that we only have one main location, so there could probably be a fourth that Consolidates Stock even further over all of the “locations”

Anyway, I wrote that f'request 9 months ago and didn't want this to thread to go off-topic, but we're going down the rabbit hole now I guess.

I'm guessing you don't use Bin Locations when looking at your image, so you probably wouldn't of known about this issue (don't blame you, I didn't either until we started using bin locations)
