Systems Auditing in Cin7 Core
The Audit Report allows easy tracking of changes made within the system, including any updates made using the Cin7 Core API. It is accessible from the Cin7 Core Reports module.
In addition to the Audit Report, there are activity logs available at the module level. For example, any changes made to a Product's detailed information can be viewed from the Logs & Attributes tab under the Products page. This functionality is available within all Cin7 Core modules.
On the Audit Report and the individual module levels, the activities that users can see in the reports are only limited by their access permissions. For example, administrators have full access to the Audit Report – they can see the details of all actions performed by authorized users. On the other hand, non-administrative users can only see activities in the modules/categories to which they have access.
Users must have the Can see User Audit Report permissions set for them to access the Audit report and activity logs. For more information on giving access permissions to Cin7 Core users, see Introduction to users and Manage roles.
Note: The Audit Report now includes the activities formerly logged under the System Activity Report, which has been phased out.
Systems audit permissions
The Manage roles article explains how permissions can be set for your organisation's users. The following permissions allow users to audit user activity.
Can see User Audit Report
The Audit Report displays the details of all actions performed by each user in Cin7 Core. In cases of updates to any information contained within Cin7 Core, the old and new values are also reflected in the Audit Report.
For other Cin7 Core features, the user will need the Lists & Tasks permission for that feature in order to view the Activity Log for that feature. e.g, to view the activity log for sales orders, the user will need the Sales List & Tasks permissions.
Audit report
The Audit Report displays the details of all actions performed by each user in Cin7 Core, including all integration- and security-related changes made by authorized users to Cin7 Core configuration settings. The Audit Report can be accessed through Reports → Audit Reports.
In cases of updates to any information contained within Cin7 Core, the old and new values are reflected in the Audit Report.
By default, the activities in the Audit Report cover the last 30 days and are arranged chronologically from the latest to the oldest. To filter the report by a custom range of dates, select either a custom Start Date and End Date or a predefined reporting period from the top left of the page.
In addition, activities can be filtered according to a wide range of categories, e.g. Security, Sale, Purchase, Product, Product Family, Task Settings, Notifications, Users and Roles, and Reference Books, among others. To filter the report by category, select a category from the list.
You can also search for any term in the report. To search for a term in the report, enter the term in the Search bar, then press Enter or click the Search button to the right.
View all actions taken by a user
Activities can also be filtered by user name. To filter the report by user name, select a user name from the list to display all actions taken by that user.
View activity logs
All Cin7 Core entries, e.g. Sale Orders, Purchases, Products, Suppliers, Customers, Stock Transfers, Assemblies, Production Orders, and more have an Activity Log tab or Logs & Attributes tab which displays a summary of the actions performed within these modules.
In cases of updates to any information contained within Cin7 Core, the old and new values are also reflected in the Activity Logs. The screenshot below shows a typical Activity Log in Cin7 Core.
View notification execution history
Cin7 Core records execution of all types of notification.
Navigate to Settings → Automation → Notifications, and click through to a notification. At the bottom of each notification type tab (Internal, Email, External), you can see the execution log showing which notifications have been sent, the date/time they were triggered and the notification details.
